Updated:3 months, 2 weeks ago IST

Kolkata (West Bengal), Aug 03 (ANI): After eight Trinamool Congress leaders were detained by authorities at Guwahati’s Silchar Airport, six of them arrived back at Kolkata airport today morning. TMC leader SS Roy lashed out on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that claiming 40 lakh registrations in National Register of Citizens (NRC) in a period of one month is a myth. He said, “77 passengers in the same aircraft were allowed to move out. Only 6 of us were not allowed. We had to cancel our public meeting. We just wanted to have on-the-spot study of the situation.” “Only one month’s time has been given after the publication of final draft. How can 40 lakh claims be done in one month? This is a myth which the BJP at the Centre and Assam government in collusion are trying to eliminate the linguistic & religious minorities from Assam. That is why we were sent to have on-the-spot study of the situation,” he added.
