Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Feb 21 (ANI): In a bizarre medical accident, a two-year old in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore has allegedly been transfused with HIV positive blood by doctors at Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital. The complained came from the girl child’s father who said the she was admitted to the hospital last July and developed complications after being discharged, and tests now show her HIV positive. The hospital administration dismissed the allegations by saying she could have been HIV infected after treatment at some other hospital, and asserted that they have furnished all the medical records related to her. The administration added it was ready for any enquiry in the case. The Coimbatore Human Rights Forum has, however, came in the support of the father saying the medical records given by the hospital seem to be “fabricated” to defend the erring doctors. “The father gave us a complaint. We've gone through medical records. They seem to be fabricated to defend the erring doctors. Child's father has given a petition to Coimbatore Dist Collector who has assured prompt action,” VP Sarathy, Chairman, Coimbatore Human Rights Forum told ANI.
