World War II era refurbished Dakota DC-3 VP 905 formally joins IAF's vintage fleet

Hindon (Ghaziabad), May 05 (ANI): A fully refurbished vintage military aircraft was inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF) on May 04. The Dakota DC-3 VP 905 was formally inducted into the IAF at a ceremony at Hindon Air Force Station where a golden key was received by the Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa from Air Commodore (retd) MK Chandrasekhar whose son and Member of Parliament had bought and restored the aircraft. The aircraft underwent a six-year-long renovation process in the United Kingdom (UK). The aircraft commenced its journey from the UK on April 17 and was flown by a joint crew of the IAF and Reflight Airworks, which refurbished the plane. The aircraft played a pivotal role during the conflict in Kashmir in 1947 war and Bangladesh war in 1971.
