Wushu gains popularity in Kashmir after player from Jammu wins gold medal in Asian Games

Srinagar (J&K), Nov 09 (ANI): Wushu, a sport developed from ancient Chinese Kung Fu martial arts, is gaining popularity among the youth in Kashmir after Bhanu Pratap Singh, a 22-year-old, won gold medal in recently concluded Asian Games in Indonesia. Two local players Naveed Farooq and Mohammad Saleem Kumar had also won medals in the World Junior Wushu Championships held in Brazil earlier this year. Keeping this in mind, State sports council and JK Wushu Association organised three days district Wushu championship at Indoor Stadium in which 300 local players from various clubs and schools participated. The top Wushu players will be selected from this championship who will be participating in National level Wushu championship. It will be played in Jammu next month. The participating players were happy taking part in this championship as it will help them move forward in this game and make their state and country proud in winning medals at national and international levels.
