India willing to lead in mitigating effects of climate change: Sushma Swaraj

Belgium, Jun 22 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, while attending a conference on climate change affirmed that India is willing to take lead in mitigating the effects of climate change. Sushma Swaraj iterated India’s stand on climate change and said, “Challenges like terrorism, environmental degradation & climate change are global in nature and can be tackled through global cooperation. India is committed to contribute effectively the efforts of forging common and united action. We are also conscious of the expectations world has from India.” Swaraj also took the chance of reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier commitment and said, “To reframe Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment, “We are not only aware of our responsibilities toward climate change we are willing to take lead in mitigating its effects.” EAM Swaraj is in Belgium on her last leg of week-long four-nation tour.
