Saudi billionaire Alwaleed released from detention

Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Jan 28 (ANI): Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal was released after a financial settlement was approved by the state prosecutor. He was detained for two months in this hotel which has been transformed into a luxurious prison. Many political and business elite who were arrested in an anti-corruption crackdown in the kingdom were detained here. Prince Alwaleed was arrested in November by a new anti-corruption body headed by the Saudi crown prince. Over 200 princes, politicians, and wealthy businessmen were detained in the crackdown. The flamboyant prince is one of the richest men in the world. He has investments in top companies like Apple, Disney, Twitter and Time Warner. Authorities had been hoping to reach financial settlements with most suspects and believed they could raise some 100-billion dollars for the government this way. The main part of the corruption probe is now believed to be winding down.
